PHP is the most used server-side programming language by far. It exists in more than 80% of all websites. The main reason that PHP is used by many websites is because of WordPress. WordPress is build using PHP. Facebook, Yahoo, and Wikipedia are examples of the excellent use of PHP for the development of huge search engines and social networking sites.

The market share of WordPress is approximately 34 percent of all websites. A lot of big content and shop management systems are using PHP, which makes PHP important and relevant.

Why PHP is still alive?

  • Easy to learn and use.
  • Easily troubleshoot and fix the errors.
  • Support dynamic content generation.
  • Applicable for small blogs, websites, and massive web platforms.
  • Secure.
  • Frameworks like CodeIgniter, Zencart use Php.
  • Flexibility in problem solving.

Is it still worth using PHP?

Yes, from version 7 it has become good. Php 7 has a lot of new features and improvements. The two most significant improvements are improved speed and better memory usage. This means that websites that use PHP 7 load faster than websites that use an older version of PHP and can handle more users at the same time. Error handling has also been improved.


PHP has a future. PHP is quite popular and widely used programming language, it won’t fade easily. Popular CMSs like WordPress and Magento are demanded and respected for developing eCommerce websites.
